Moss
Limited edition of 10 Japanese woodblock prints, made during my 2019 Summer artist’s residency in Kawaguchiko, Japan.
4 blocks, 6 colour edition of 10.
MOSS was inspired by the Ewahiba moss that was growing around our residency building in Kawaguchiko, Japan. My entire time there was spent exploring the surroundings and documenting the plants that grew around Mt Fuji. This moss especially caught my eye since one minute it curled up into a ball and the next day it would be completely unfurled and majestically spread out. I couldn’t understand what influenced it to open and close, so this piece shows the moss surrounded by the mystical forces that helps it make up it’s mind.
The idea for this design was inspired by the local moss growing around our residency building in Kawaguchiko, Japan. This was my second print made at the residency program.
