CMYK
Limited edition of 4 Japanese Mokuhanga woodblock prints. 3 plates, 3 colours carved on MDF board. Printed on Japanese Kochi washi paper.
This design was an exercise in mixing certain colours the CMYK family- Cyan (blue), Magenta (pink), Yellow - and layer each of the elements to see how the colours overlay. CMYK is a traditionally a digital to print colour system.
PRODUCTION NOTES:
I was curious to see if similar effects can be achieved finding shades as close as possible in watercolours and printed in the Mokuhanga style.
Another experiment in this process was testing MDF boards with fairly prominent particle size , with the Japanese printing technique. The MDF board was somewhat of a challenge but proved to be useful for simple designs nonetheless.
